Total Quality Management Project for PATH

Project publications may be ordered by contacting Dr. Ellen Thorson.

Overview

As part of the assessment of the PATH corporation's readiness to adopt Total Quality Management (TQM) system, it is necessary to determine how PATH is currently performing (e.g. providing service), how this performance has changed over the past several years (continued improvements, static, or continued decline), and how PATH performance compares to peer properties.

By evaluating data from PATH and other properties these assessments can be made. Data included in this assessment:

* National Urban Mass Transportation Statistics (Section 15 Annual Report) published by the U.S.Department of Transportation, Urban Mass Transit Administration (UMTA).

* PATH performance data not part of Section 15 data.

* Peer property performance data not part of Section 15.

This study reviews PATH current performance as reported. The study is in two major sections. Section 1 is an introduction toperformance indicators, Section 2 summarizes data reporting on performance for PATH and peer properties.
