Heather Martin is a second year masters student with a concentration in transportation at the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. In addition to her AITE Scholarship Award, Heather has also received the Dwight D. Eisenhower Transportation Graduate Fellowship from the USDOT and worked as a full-time summer intern in the Research, Implementation & Safety group at the NYCDOT. Her graduate research examines a five-block corridor on 3rd Avenue in Manhattan and analyzes the interactions and conflicts between street users and modes from a safety perspective. The case study will recommend design solutions to improve safety given the existing physical conditions and usage patterns.
