Dr. Qizhong (George) Guo is a professor of civil and environmental engineering at School of Engineering, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. He is a widely recognized water resources engineer. His specialty and research areas are hydraulics and hydrology, urban stormwater and flood management, water environment protection and restoration, and green and sustainable water infrastructure.

Dr. Guo has directed over 30 research projects as the principal investigator. His major research achievements include green and adaptive flood risk reduction strategies, maintenance intervals for emerging stormwater green infrastructure, new method for estimating freshwater input and water residence time in estuaries, innovative combined-sewer sediment flushing techniques, and cement quality standards for drinking water pipe linings.

Dr. Guo has also actively served the profession. He has chaired the stormwater technology certification guidelines task committee for the American Society of Civil Engineers, served on a project steering committee for the Water Environment Research Foundation, and served as President of the Chinese American Water Resources Association.

Dr. Guo received B.E. degree from Tianjin University (China) and both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Minnesota. He is a licensed civil engineer and a diplomate of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers.
