Lisa Axe, PhD, is a professor in the department of civil and environmental engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology. Her research interests include: physical and chemical processes in environmental systems, which includes water quality, subsurface contamination, mechanistic and transport modeling; ecological risk assessment modeling; corrosion characterization and modeling; developing and evaluating alternative processes such as replacement coatings for corrosion protection; and using in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy for assessing speciation, which has recently been applied on treated dredged and contaminated sediments for reuse in the construction industry.
