We are pleased to announce a call for faculty nominations for the first Urban Transportation and Planning Doctoral Series, hosted jointly by New York University’s Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management and the City University of New York’s University Transportation Research Center. The Urban Transportation and Planning Doctoral Series will take place at New York University’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service approximately once each month during the academic year 2009-10. The goal of the series is to provide an informal setting in which some of the region’s leading young scholars, as nominated by their faculty advisors, will have an opportunity to present their current dissertation research on cutting-edge transportation planning matters and engage other doctoral and masters students, as well as faculty and alumni, in a meaningful discussion. The talks will highlight the practical use of transportation for answering real world questions as well as provide an important venue for an intellectual community of researchers working in related fields.

Four students will be accepted for the Urban Transportation and Planning Doctoral Series in fall 2009. Students selected for the program will receive an honorarium recognizing their selection as well as travel and accommodation when necessary. We cordially invite you to nominate one or two students as nominees for this series. Your nominated students should submit a CV, cover letter, and the abstract for their current research to applynyuutrc2@gmail.com.
