Founded in 1870 in Hoboken, New Jersey, the Stevens Institute of Technology is one of the leading technological universities in the country.It is named for a distinguished family in American engineering, dating back to the early days of the Industrial Revolution, that helped pioneer the development of the steamboat and railroad technology.

Research at Stevens Institute includes structural dynamics, soil-structure interaction, freight transportation, and embedded, real-time, intelligent infrastructure systems.
