Joan Dorn is a Medical Professor and Chair of the Department of Community Health and Social Medicine. She came to Sophie Davis in November 2014 after serving as Chief of the Physical Activity and Health Branch in the Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Prior to that Dr. Dorn served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences and Research Professor in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine in the School of Public Health and Health Professions at the State University of New York, University at Buffalo. Dr. Dorn’s research interests include the role of physical activity and other lifestyle behaviors in the primary and secondary prevention of chronic diseases, particularly cardiovascular diseases and obesity.
