Mohsen A. Jafari is a professor of Industrial & Systems Engineering at Rutgers University. He has directed or co-directed a total of over $12.0M funding from various government agencies including: The National Science Foundation, The Department of Energy, The Office of Naval Research, The Defense Logistics Agency, NJ Department of Transportation, FHWA, DARPA, NJ Dept. of Health and Senior Services, NYC MTA, and industry in areas of automation, system optimization, data modeling, information systems, and cyber risk analysis. His research applications extend to manufacturing, transportation, healthcare and power systems. The application highlights include the development of advanced multi materials deposition systems; multi-layered decision support systems for traffic safety; risk analysis engine for power grid cyber security. He actively collaborates with universities and research institutes abroad. He has also been consultant to several fortune 500 companies as well as local and state government agencies. He has been director of sixteen Ph.D. theses, and nine post doctoral & research fellows. He is a member of IEEE and IIE. He has received the IEEE excellence award in service and research. He is a member of Rutgers’ Center for Advanced Infrastructure and transportation (CAIT), under which he recently formed a multi-disciplinary and multi-university team of experts in infrastructure asset management dealing with sustainability, resiliency, climate changes, and other related issues.
